Alesis Multimix 8 Usb For Mac

I have a new Alesis Multimix 8USB mixer. While recording audio into GB(4.1.2) I hear a constant high-pitched whine on the 'headphone' jack of the mixer. This whine isn't present in the recording when I listen to it using the headphone out jack on MB. It only occurs when the MB is connected to mixer using USB cable. In trying to isolate the problem, the whine starts immediately when GB preferenece are set for Audio Input to: 'USB Audio CODEC'. The system preferences are also set for USB. Any thoughts?Alesis Multimix 8 Usb For Mac Windows 7

Posted on So i bought this Alesis Multimix 8 USB mixer and i plugged it into my macbook. I'm using logic express and i'm totally lost and confused. As you can see by my alias thing it has been frustrating me for a couple days now. I've tried going into settings->preferences->Audio.. and under core audio i changed the device to the USB Audio Codec. I assumed that meant the usb mixer, although i still do not get any signal. Do i need to change the input to Bus or whatever that is? Please someone out there help me.
